Strength to Love in the Fall

Enjoying the fall seasons as well as life-giving relationships.

What’s fall got to do with it?

I love the fall season! It comes with many joys - cooler weather, the anticipation of the holidays, comfort foods that end in "spice," and much more. I am also acutely aware of the relational anxiety it can bring as the cold weather forces us to be indoors a bit more and for much longer. It causes us to face the relationships we work so hard to avoid or highlights the reality of being alone. Like a ball that resurfaces no matter how much we push it underwater, the loneliness pops up without warning, thus adding incredible pressure to succumb to what is called the "cuffing" season (Google it if you don't know). In some other scenarios, relational dynamics we tolerate stand the chance of becoming intolerable, and the echoes of loneliness ring a little louder for those who long to be in a family but don't seem to fit right in for whatever reason.

Listen, if this is you or you know someone like this, I hope this video from my husband, Reggie Roberson, encourages you. Although the message focuses on how we find the strength to love our family members well, I believe the main points apply to any relational status.

I pray that you enjoy God's goodness through this fall season, experience the utmost fulfillment in being in a godly community, love others the way Jesus loves us and receive God's love and true belonging found in Him.

Happy Fall, Y'all!
